When to start potty training and other things.....

Hi All I tried potty training G when he was just 2 in Nov 2010, it was a disaster and soo stressful so I stopped. In May this yearhe was waking up dry in the morning so I knew hes bladder was ready, he also hated having nappies that were wet or soiled on and I mean hated, full blown screaming if it wasnt off there and then. so he was 33 months. I had a week off work, just the way is worked out, we had quite warm weather and I took him out for special Thomas pants. I then thought it best to have ...

The Rules you must & the Rules you wont copy from Mother.

Agree with all the above. I turn the tv off when we're eating, he asks to get down and he does chores ( as in he sets the table, badly but its done, and clears his plate to the side in the kitchen after he's finished). He likes helping me so I encourage it, itll change soon I know. We eat the same meals at the same time wherever possible. He doesnt drink fizzy drinks and hardly squash, mainy water and milk oh and hes a tea monster, but a cuppa is magic really. I think manners are extremely impor...

Nearly 3 year old has learnt the word "no"

Oh sorry I thought you were starting uni tahtst why I said when shes at nursery, got a bit muddles I think! I think it is sometimes that, attentions attention at the end of the day whether its good or bad. I ignore G at home but its not so eay when he decides he wants to have a little lay down in the street! Then again I was saying to my mum about it and she just laughed and said it was come back as I was very stubborn, I still am although I like to say determined now hehe! x

Nearly 3 year old has learnt the word "no"

Hi Flic. I bet when shes at nursery shes good as gold, they say George is their best behaved boy, it makes me proud and frustrated at the same time. Why isnt he like it at home?! George can be stubborn though but hes getting to the age where reasoning works and he can she the bigger picture better, this is only a recent thing so again must be linked to age. Sometimes it gets the better of him though, he wont say sorry and just laughs so gets put on the step for people that arent very nice (I don...

Nearly 3 year old has learnt the word "no"

Hi All George is 3 in just over a month and in the past 6 weeks he has gpne from being a well mannered, generally good little boy to testing his boundaries, constantly! Everything I ask him to do is met with a "No", he screams when I try to put his coat on, get him dressed, he goes to bed, basically anything he doesnt want to do, I just ignore him and carry one. All my usual tactics (distraction, time out and him losing things ie treats) arent working, he is soo stubborn I feel like Im banging m...
