On a hormonal roller coaster and want to get off!

Hi and welcome to FZ! Like the others I haven't been through egg donation, just a couple of ICSI and an IUI. I think the thing that kept me from killing DH on our last cycle was his absence! He was in Canada with work only returning the day before EC. All those hormones made me a moody lady! And I wasn't remotely amused when DH teased he might not get from Canada in time for EC. (Major bollocking over FaceTime!) It takes great strength to be able to start treatment in the first place, don't doub...

Poor egg collections :-(

Hi Copacobana! Welcome to FZ! I'm sorry to hear about your experience at your clinic but well done for changing to a different place, I hope your next cycle goes well. I don't know enough about the issues you've had but I do know of people who have been successful in spite of limited eggs/embryos so don't lose heart. Wishing you all the best!

nervous about returning to work

Hi Jen, I have twins, combination BF and formula til they were 13months. I had to stop partly due to returning to work but also as DS just stopped wanting to BF. It really upset me at the time, I had so wanted to continue, having spent so long trying to establish BF in the first place, to then have DS just reject me felt awful, and awful for DD who was still enjoying her morning BF. I still look at DD and feel a tinge of sadness that I didn't get a bit longer BF her, but that was how it was to b...

Question C section or Natural Birth with Twins

Hi! I was thinking about what to post when I got to the bottom and saw your update... on the arrival of your little ones! I was going to say I had my twins naturally, they were both head down on the day they decided to turn up so I went for it. Gas/air and forceps and 7.5hrs of emotional rollercoaster but I agree I would love to be pregnant again and much less terrified about labour if I did it again, so tiring but such a wonderful reward at the end!

Advice needed on baby not meeting development milestones, very worried mummy xx

I also didn't want to read and run, big hugs to you but do as the others have suggested make a list of questions, and don't be afraid to ask about CP, you have every right to ask, health professionals are used to their patients googling everything, you won't be labelled over-anxious, you're just being a good mum. Thinking of you and your LO x

Breastfeeding and Colic

Hi, just another thought I read somewhere (in desperation when DS was colicky) that there's a theory that colic is caused by overstimulation, I had to reread and rereread cos I thought how does a tiny baby who sleeps so much get over stimulated, anyway it's something about stress and effect on muscle tone which causes problems. Anyway by the time I read this DS started to get better on his own anyway, no amount of infacol or other stuff helped. I wondered whether I shouldn't have had the tv on w...

Thrush :(

Hi! BGE great advice, good leaflet, wish I'd seen it! We had thrush around week 3, it was so bad that it hurt when I showered, but that was the sign that the lactation consultant I'd seen instantly picked up on. We were treated with Daktarin, which is micanozole and comes as cream and gel. The babies had an oral gel and I had cream for nipples, which it's very important that you know you don't have to wipe off before feeding, but obviously don't slather it on just before a feed as it makes it al...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Well becoming a parent brings out all sorts of information, I found out that I was started on babyrice at 6weeks! Yep you heard, as that's what my ma was told to do back in the dark ages!! In saying that I'm still here, not in too bad shape! There's a lot of reasons not to start solids too early, babies gut isn't fully developed, increased risk of allergies, all sorts of things, equally if there is a medical reason then it can be the right thing to do, but as Kat said speak to your hv or doctor ...

Hungry baby formula

I have a tub of the stuff as DH bought it (and Boots don't refund it) we tried the liquid stuff first, then had a maternity nurse arrive who confirmed what we thought, it causes more constipation!! That was in the early weeks. I thought I'd try it again a couple of weeks ago (liquid as still had a carton left) more constipation! Poor babies!! I wouldn't recommend it, aside from anything you want to feed him but not overfeed him, the extra calories will just go on as lovely squidgy puppy fat, but...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Broccoli makes the stinkiest farts/poos, be warned!! but they do love it, I've started making broccoli/pasta bakes which they love, but what's not to love about a cheesy sauce! And I agree Flic ready cut mango, and also pineapple cos let's face it who can be bothered to sit there cutting one of those! The one thing they love but I hate is banana because they just mush it into everything and it's a right pain to clean, banana hair and face masks, banana floor cleaner, banana hand gel, just banana...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

oh hun! don't worry about weight gain, 3 weeks isn't lomg enough between weigh ins, there should be a growth spurt around 6 months and then weight doesn't go up as quickly, that;s why they recommend you weigh them every 2months after they're 6months old (which is like torture! I still have to wait another 2weeks!!) DS isn't even on the bottom centile line but he follows his own line and so hv don't worry and I'd say finally I've stopped worrying too! as for blw start off with steamed carrot stic...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

If you're registered with Boots you can pick up the free cow and gate first spoonfuls pack with a fruit pot and a carrot pot and a spoon. As we are blw not using the food but I never say no to a free spoon! Jasper no idea about stopping yet, I didn't bf during the day yesterday for the first time ever and was very full and sore last night so had to express. I'm thinking it's possible to be sore a week later when you've been bf as long as you have. Did you drop feeds gradually or just stop one da...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi all! Hayley mine do that too, they're nearly 8months so not far off yours. They just have short attention spans sometimes and once they're bored they tell me and that's it they want out, like today we were out at DH's work and they were lovely for about 30minutes but then whingy for the remaining hour! And I have only ever been out to the nearby supermarket for about 20mins at a time an always to the park after, too chicken to try for longer!! Sasha we swaddled ours til around 4months, but st...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi! Time does fly, my two are nearly 8months! Sasha you're not a control freak or mad for feeling that way. I didn't leave my babies for bedtime until three weeks ago, so just at 7months, and that was in DH's care. We haven't left them with anyone else for the bedtime routine yet. I simply don't trust anyone else to follow the routine and stick with it even if they're crying. Both babies often like a good cry before the sleep and I know that none of the grandparents could listen to the crying, t...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi! Swimming love it! been going since they were 4 1/2 months and they love it, bit wary of being submerged DS more than DD but getting better each week. We take them to a kiddy pool locally for lessons and we all love it! I had a minor panic before the sessions started as I'd read it said minimum weight 10lbs and DS was still only 9.5. Anyway I hadn't read the rest of it that says either 6weeks old or 10lbs. The youngest baby is in the class before ours and he started at 7weeks! Sitting up, wel...

When did you have your twins?

Hi! Here's a link to another thread with more info from other twin parents on FZ. A poll for mamas of twinnies! I had mine at 37+1, they weighed 1.8kg (4lb) and 2.3kg (5), delivered naturally (I saw your questions about c-sections but can't help sorry!) We stayed in hospital for 4nights due to a bit of jaundice in DS (and I was grateful not to take these two tiny little helpless people home straightaway!). Good luck, it has been hard going but so wonderful!

After any BLW advice please...?

If I didn't worry you would be calling social services!! I've had issues with MIL lots up til now, and I've been swearing that I won't be like that when I'm a MIL, then thinking what if I don't get on with their choice of partner, then realising that I have just married off my babies and they can't even crawl/sit yet!! Insanity/worry/crazy momma behaviour!!! I'm going to stick to thinking of what to cook for dinner and stop the long term planning!!

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hello! Thanks for the info on nurseries, really helped me too! Taffy as the others have said bf babies often don't poo for days, it's cos it's so easily digestible that there's little waste at the other end!! And yes babies are so very different, I have bf my two, they've had the same food at the same time yet one would poo every 3rd day the other would poo with every feed! Beat that for different!! Don't worry as long as there are wet nappies each change and there is poo once a week at least th...

After any BLW advice please...?

I'm not! Oh alright twins don't count! I know they're growing fine, last weigh in was ok they're plotting their own little lines (I tell DS that according to the graph that all other babies are bigger than him as he plots well under the bottom centile) I also know that DS is skinny as anything but doesn't stop moving, always wriggling, never stays where you leave him so I'm thinking he burns off all he consumes. Stop worrying FB right?!
