Fostering with pets at home (staffies)

My husband and I have just started the process of becoming foster parents and we have our initial home visit on 9th January. Something that is playing on my mind is how will social services view our homelife as we have two beautiful staffies. We and our family know that the dogs are both loyal, excellent family pets and the children in our families absolutely adore them. I'm aware of the bad name that this particular breed of dog gets and they can be quite exciteable when meeting new people! (Th...

First step to fostering

Hi Polly, My husband and I have also just sent off our application for fostering. We've been considering it for a long time, even before we married. My husbands parents have fostered for years and have just taken a new little family into their home until the end of January. We're respite carers for his parents foster children and so it's been a part of our lives for a while now. For me ot was quite a hard decision to go full-time fostering as I feel that it has closed the doors to us having furt...

Anyone had day 6 embryo transfer?

I've just had a call from my clinic to say that my embies aren't ready for blastocyst transfer today. I'm absolutely gutted. They are going to monitor them overnight and let us know tomorrow if transfer can take place. They said that they do perform 6 day transfer but I'd never heard about it before. Has anyone had 6 day transfer and anyone got a BFP after 6DT? I'm so scared my little ones aren't going to make it. Please please please.

RE: scared and upset

Oh Kara, I'm sorry to hear you're upset and worrying. Try not to, easier said than done I know. I'm sure I've read a thread on here before saying that these results can change between periods and from one day to another. Hope you get some good news soon. Take care xxx

RE: is this many follies ok after 7 days stimming?

Hi Zoe, Wow, you have been a busy girl! All your lovely follies!! My clinc call this the "recruitment" stage, when all the potential follies are being gathered. I would imagine your clinc are loweing your dose to prevent hyper-stimulation and I'd just make sure that they keep a close eye on you, I'm sure they will. I think they look for follies measuring roughly 18mm (girls, correct me if I am wrong) and anything up to 2.2cm is good so yours still have a little to grow but you're well on the way...

RE: Smoking!

Hi Sarah, I'm an ex-smoker too and can truly sympathise. I felt embarassed to admit I was a smoker but initally found it easy to give up. After our BFN's I fell off the wagon and often had an odd cig. I don't know how but somehow you find the determination to stop when you realise it's time for you. It doesn't help when you see women smoking 20 a day with a lovely big baby bump!!! (Like the one I saw at the train station this morning...grrrr). Have you been to your GP to see about any courses th...

Work and time off - advice please

Hi Everyone, I'm having a meeting with my team leader and manager tomorrow to discuss me having further treatment before the end of the year. I don't have any holiday left! My TL can be very difficult and tends to book holiday whenever I need time off for treatment or clinc appointments. We can't be off at the same time so this causes me stress Have you any suggestions how I can approach tomorrows meeting? We're hoping to have treatment in December and preferably the 2ww over Xmas & New Year, if...

ANOTHER LOAD OF FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS

That's great. You're in control of your destiny and I think that can only improve your chances . I'm going to try and take that view with arranging my cycle in December but am slightly restricted with time scales due to the egg-share side. I'm just happy to be trying again to be honest. Good luck hun xxxx

Back to square 1!

Hi everyone, I chickened out of phoning the clinic and got DH to do it instead. The results for his dna fragmentation was absolutely fine - damn his super swimmers!! You may think I'm mad but we were hoping for a negative result so that we had some reason for our 3 failed attempts. DH phoned me at work to tell me and I held it together for about 5 mins and then made a dash for the ladies to have a good cry. Any advice where we go from here? I tried to phone the clinic to book an appointment with...

Should I phone clinic tomorrow?

Hello everyone, Just posting for some advice and encouragement really. Some of you may know that my Dh went for a sperm dna fragmentation test, 2 weeks ago. When we last saw the clinic they said that the results would be in within a fortnight and we should phone after that time. Well, it will be 2 weeks tomorrow. Should I phone for the results? Will they tell me or would DH have to speak to them? I have been thinking about it constantly and it's giving me butterflies in my tummy right now! I am ...
