Confused - guidelines for when to start weaning

Hi Netty I think it very much depends on your baby - no 2 are the same! Freddie was def ready at about 20 weeks as he was so interested in what we were eating and he has got on so well he's on 3 meals a day now (plus milk). R xx

floppy larynx (larynomalacia)

Hiya To be honest nothing seemed to help - he does seem to be just growing out of it as the Doc said he would. He sounds like he has a cold now ... as if he needs to clear his throat but is a happy chappy and it certainly hasnt affected his growth/weight in any way. xx

floppy larynx (larynomalacia)

Hi Deirdre Freddie also has a floppy larynx - diagnosed at 6 week check ... I was so relieved to get a diagnosis as I was constantly worried about his breathing/choking and the weird sort of whistling noise he was making. He is now 4 months and the whistling noise has stopped - he is still a very noisy breather but is fine in every other way - a little bit sicky but not excessively. I havn't started him on solids yet. Re immature speech - I don't think this will be a problem for Freddie as he ba...

I once had a little old lady ask if my 2 were one of each ... I said no 2 boys and she patted my arm and said "what a shame, never mind"!

sterilisation reversal cost? time to just book it

Hiya Trixiebell I had the same dilemma some time back after 2 failed ivf cycles ... in the end after looking into both we decided on one last try of ivf which thankfully worked. I didn't find it any cheaper than £3,500 anywhere though! The main reason for our decision was my age as the consultant we saw said that even if the reversal worked my fertility (or average fertility for age) meant that it still may not result in a baby. Its a toughie!!! Good luck with whatever your decide xx

Fingerprint/handprint/footprint jewellery

I have just had Freddie's fingerprint made into a charm for my bracelet and cufflinks for DP - the company is called Dinky Fingerprints but may be only local - not sure ... they are keeping the print though so I can get Xmas pressies for the Grannies!!!

DS sleeping for less than 7 hours out of 24

Totally agree with Mrs S re the hind milk/fore milk and that when you are knackered and stressed it def affects your supply. xxx

DS sleeping for less than 7 hours out of 24

Netty you are not a bad mum ... Freddie didn't start putting on weight until I combined formula with breast feeding - he was also fairly whingey for the first few weeks and I reckon looking back he was just very hungry. I carried on feeding formula and breast until a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine - just give it a try - you can always go back to just bfing when things calm down! Hugs xxx

DS sleeping for less than 7 hours out of 24

Hi Netty - hope you are ok? One of my twins had colic and it is awful! Are you still breast feeding? I know all the bf ladies will scream at me but have you tried a bottle of formula to see if it will help him sleep?? Don't get me wrong I am not saying give up bfing but it may be worth a try to give you a bit of a break ? This stage won't last I promise - not much help when you are going through it I know xx

Expressing

Hi Netty - I have no answers re expressing as I didn't like it at all so I gave DS a bottle of formula at 4 weeks to give myself a break in the evenings and he still has both now. If you are feeling desperate for a break then maybe you could try that ? It does get easier I promise ... the first 6 weeks are always the hardest. xxx

Passport photos and babies with hair!

Oh dear - I am waiting for the call after hearing this - Freddie has loads of hair but not over his face but the thing I am worried about is that it was ever so slightly side on so only one ear was showing ... I thought they may be a bit more easy going with babies! DS had his rejected as they said his mouth was open - it wasn't his lips were ever so slightly parted and I mean slightly - you had to look v closely to see! It has cost me a bloomin fortune getting them all renewed over the last few...

I just sort of slush it round and it disolves ok ... its better not to shake any bottle too hard anyway as this creates air bubbles that end up in baby's tummy. x

? dairy sensitivity

Hiya One of my twins was dairy sensitive but from an earlier age - (you could wean earlier then!) and I kept him off it until he was a year and gradually re-introduced it and he has been fine ever since. It was a bit trickly as so much has dairy in so I ended up making all of his food rather than reading all the labels of the pre-made baby food - mainly mushed up fruit and veg to start and then meat too in a sort of stew as he got older. Good luck x

16 yr old DD going on holiday with friends, yikes!!

I wouldnt take offence if another parent called me in a situation like this - especially if you ask their girls to keep an eye on dd as she is so much younger. My 2 go out all the time in the evenings now and we are often already in bed when they get home ... this parenting lark doesnt get any easier does it!! Good luck with your ivf cycle x
