Cow's milk -v- Growing up milk and bottle to beaker questions!

Hi Duff - just a quick one cos T is emptying all grandma's drawers! I wanted to get T on cows milk from a cup before we went on holiday last year for convenience - that was a week before his birthday. I started about 4 weeks before we went and gave him his formula in a cup for evening feeds for a week, then mornings too for a week, then did half formula and half cows milk mixed for a week then was on cows milk in a cup a week before we went, just in case of dodgy nappies! I used the Tommee Tippe...

Quantity of food for a 1 year old?

Hi missis! Don't think this will be of much help but thought I'd share what Thomas has! He's 15 months now and still has no teeth! He's been on cow's milk since just before his 1st birthday (I wanted to make the swap before we went on holiday to make things easier!) He wakes between 6.30 and 7 and has a drink of milk in bed with me - I've stopped measuring how much but about half a cup maybe. Breakfast (9ish) is a banana, a weetabix or some porridge (Asda's own Ready Brek stuff) and sometimes ha...

General development - help!

Hi! Don't think I'm going to be much help but didn't want to read and run. Has your daughter had an 18 month check with your HV? I only ask cos a friend of mine had her son for his yesterday and they reckoned he should know about 20 words by now and be starting to put them together. He hasn't but I dont think it's a major concern - he babbles non stop and certainly understands a lot. My little boy is 15 months - he won't even try to stand by himself and only just started walking holding one hand...

Persistent cough :<(

Mr T is upstairs coughing in his sleep with vapour rub on his feet. Unfortunately he coughed so hard during dinner he was sick - bye bye calpol. Going to docs tomorrow if we can get in. And tixylix sounds good too. Fingers crossed for everyone xxx

Persistent cough :<(

Yeah I have some so I'll try it on his feet. Might also try some of that cough medicine - I was told there was nothing I could give him. Tut! Glad your little lady had a better sleep, hope she continues to improve xxx

Persistent cough :<(

Hi Duff Thomas had had colds and coughs off and on since his birthday in September - we all have. I asked in my local chemist and they said the only thing I could give him was glycerine, honey and lemon. Boots said the same. I bought some and tried it but can't say it made a huge difference. I suppose as it's not really a medicine (if you know what I mean) it's only really to soothe their throat. I took him to the GP with it and we weren't given anything either. I asked about the glycerine, hone...

Flying food - help!

Hi Grace. Sorry I have no answers but didn't want to read and run. I'll be looking out for the responses you get with interest because we're going through a similar thing! T is 13 months old. I haven't done BLW but generally I spoon-feed him something and also give him something to feed himself. Over the last couple of weeks everything goes on the floor, sometimes without even trying it. He even threw half his banana this morning and that's unheard of. Fingers crossed that you get some answers t...

Holiday/flying with a 12 month old - top tips please?!

Hi! Hi ladies - just looking for some advice and/or top tips please! Thomas is 1 on the 17th September and we go to Gran Canaria on the 25th. My mum and dad are coming so we have extra hands and extra room in hand luggage if necessary! He's great with eating, even with no teeth, so I'm hoping he'll eat whatever's available as we're All Inclusive and meals are buffet-style. Will take a jar or pouch for the plane and a few in the case on a friend's advice just to be on the safe side and am hoping ...

only 3 fertilised :(

Hi - don't get on here often these days but saw your post and just wanted to say we had 3 attempts and on the last one (which was going to be our final attempt) I can't remember how many eggs were collected but only 2 fertilised and I was gutted and knew 100% that there was no chance. They put them back after 2 days (no point in waiting to see which were the best as there were only 2) and 9 months ago today one of those eggs was born! Got everything crossed for you xxx

PCOS - one ovary only?

Me too I think! I was told I don't have PCOS but I do have one ovary that is slighly polycystic?! I get bad skin (eczema rather than acne) and seem to have a more impressive moustache these days! Cycles used to be about 35 days with the odd long or short one but seem to be more regular since I had my little boy. Not sure what treatment, if any, you're having - but good luck and hope it makes you feel good that both people who replied now have babies! x

renal pelvic dilatation at 20 week scan

Hi Jensqui Just to let you know how our scan went yesterday. I don't know how dilated your friend's baby's kidneys are but at our 20 week scan one of them was 6.3 which wasn't a huge worry but enough to book a re-scan at 32 weeks (yesterday) Anyway - everything was fine. The sonographer said they'd be looking at anything under 10 at this stage and the one which was of concern is 6 so well within the 'normal' range. She said dilated kidneys are the most common reason for re-scanning and often rec...

Anyone had EC at St. James Leeds

Hi fizz - firstly good luck I've had 2 ECs at St James's and although they weren't the most fun I've ever had, I didn't remember a thing afterwards because of the sedation (which is great by the way) I know it hurt a bit but I couldn't even describe to you how or where - I only know cos I remember saying ooh I felt that! You will probably have a little snooze after, some tea and toast and go home feeling sleepy but fine. Everyone at Jimmy's is lovely - Liz did my first EC and Elissa my second - ...
