Hi again Sasha I don't know why a clinic would opt to freeze eggs over sperm. As far as I know, freezing eggs is much less efficient than freezing sperm. Check this out and ask why. Could it just be a financial thing on their part....? Sorry, but cynical after a long IVF journey. xx

hiya Zita West definitely do stuff for men - worth a look. MESA is a form of sperm extraction - think the term used depends on where sperm is taken from. In our case, the epididymis. Hope things are feeling a bit less scary. xx
Hi Sasha You could have a look at the Zita West range of vitamins for men. You could also have an appointment with one of their nutritionists. Sure they could do that over the phone. It isn't cheap but I think anything like Wellman (i.e over the counter, broad spectrum stuff) will only give you a maintenance dosage - that's not really enough. A qualified nutritionist will point you to professional ranges of vitamins and minerals to try. This can all add up though to a substantial amount of money...
Hi again yes, it is an awful shock - I am very sorry. We were told it was unlikely we would find sperm and to consider a donor, but we ended up with 18 vials. They can be very wrong. Do not give up hope yet - the operation really is nothing at all physically. My husband had a MESA and the sperm came from the epididymis, so were fully mature. But you can take sperm from testicular tissue too. Hope you will get better news at your next visit. I know just how hard it feels - like there is a barrier...
Hi Sasha Am very sorry to hear this. Yes, this happened to my husband and I. His was a very complicated situation - due part to a genetic defect and part to a botched operation when young. It meant that the only working vas deferens (pipe that connects testicle and penis) he had was taken away at 4 years of age by mistake - he had / has sperm (he had a MESA to have them removed) but they are effectively trapped in his body. Hello It depends on your circumstances (age, reasons for infertility, etc) but I think that not having the capacity to freeze embryos is a big issue. Am surprised that this is the case, but perhaps other people have come across this elsewhere? It might reflect (badly) on their embryology services. As for PGD, again, this depends on your circumstances. Hi Clarabel Prednisolone is used commonly as immune therapy in IVF - I had it from EC twice (and my clinic is one of most successful out there). My clinic would have had me on it just as a precaution for the whole pregnancy had I not lost my baby. I'm sure there must be lots of data on it to prove its safety. Try not to worry. Hi don't put up and shut up - this is too important. I always had bloods before my scan. I would then be scanned and a plan of action (increase in dosage of stims, maintenance of dosage, or scheduling of collection) would follow BUT it was always provisional upon them getting the blood results back in the afternoon. Hello I'm really sorry this has happened to you. I used two clinics and they always did blood tests - E2 (Oestradiol) - on the day of each scan. I would say this is important, particularly as you approach the time when it would mature. Also, one of my clinics used to check the eggs were still there by scanning before putting me under - as you say, it is an unnecessary invasive procedure and a sedation. It is completely normal to be worried during pregnancy (I was), especially when you have been through a lot to get there in the first place.
