Last scan before egg collection and there were only 6

We actually only had two at our last scan before collection and by the time it came to collection they got 4. One of those four is a little two year old now sitting having his lunch!! It really only does take one! Lots of luck xx

Milk after 1

Hi. Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice? DS has always had far far more milk than "normal". He's now almost 13 months and up until about 2 months ago, he always woke in the night seemingly "starving" for more milk which we gave him. The health visitor had a bit of a go at me and said now that he's eating properly (and he does eat very well) that there is no way he needs milk during the night, only his bottle before bed. She said that he is just waking and comforting himself with milk (...

Bugs, bugs, bugs

DS has been going to nursery now for a couple of months and has spent more time out of it then in it - he is just picking up bug after bug after bug. He's had sickness, diarrhea, coughs, cold, chest infection, ear infection, throat infection, conjunctivitis and now today has sickness again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else experienced this - its just a complete nightmare. Am sure work will sack me for never being there, I know I'm certainly starting to annoy them. We have no support where we ...

Struggling with being back at work

I've been back to work a week now and hated every second of it. I've gone back four days, as unfortunately finances dictate that I have no choice and DS is in nursery. I cried my eyes out most of the week and found it very very hard dropping him off. I think the worst thing is the length of time in the day (he's there from 8 til 5 each day) - it just feels too long. I think if I could do three days, it would feel like a better balance. We probably could just about manage financially if I did thr...

Really down about having to return to work

I'm now in the last month of my maternity leave and the thought of returning to work is really starting to get me down. I'm going to make the most of the time I have left, but just can't get the feeling of fear and dread out of my mind. Everytime I think about leaving DS (who will be just over 8 months) with what will be strangers to start with at nursery - I get a lump in my throat and just don't know how I'm going to be able to do it. I have to return to work 4 days as we just cant afford anyt...

Where does your baby sleep during the day?

Hiya Jake naps in his cot and has done since about 3 months. I had a lot of trouble persuading him to nap anywhere and his lack of napping was making him so tired and narky. We got to the point where we just popped him in his cot and let him cry for a little and he would fall asleep. That was a very hard thing to do and took several days, but boy was it worth it!! He's 7 months now and is more than happy to snuggle down in his cot for two naps a day and his night sleep.

DH doesn't want anymore

Wasn't sure where to post this - but really need to talk to someone. DH and I have been married for 7 years and have been blessed with DS who is now 6 months after several years of IVF and an early loss. I know how very very lucky we are and I thank my lucky stars every day that we finally got our beautiful baby - but my thoughts are turning to wanting more. DH has made it very clear that he doesn't want anymore children (he already has two from a previous marriage) and I feel quite upset about ...

Relationship troubles

Hi all - I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I really need some support/thoughts on this one. DH and I have been together for 8 years and have always been very close and have had a great relationship. Our beautiful baby boy is now 5 months and is without doubt the best thing we've ever done - but our relationship has gone pretty pear shaped!! Yes, w e are both exceptionally tired, DS is waking alot in the night - but I thought our relationship would be stronger than this. We seem to be ...

We've learnt to roll!

DS has just discovered he can roll over and will do so at every opportunity!! He doesn't quite know what to do when he gets there, but he's clearly very proud of himself. Anyway, he now does it everytime I put him down to sleep and ends up falling asleep on his belly. He's only 5 months and it worries the life out of me letting him sleep on his belly with all the guidance that they are supposed to be on their packs. I keep rolling him over, but that often wakes him (getting him to sleep is hard ...

Returning to work - rights?

Hello! I wonder if any one can offer any advice. I am due to return to work in September. As much as I don't want to, unfortunately our financial situation dictates that I have to. Anyway, having done some sums, we've worked out that we can afford for me to return for 4 days rather than full time. I am really pleased and am obviously desperate to spend as much time with DS as possible and hate the thought of him being in nursery (although I know he'll be fine :-)) So, I asked for a meeting with ...

Hi DS had his 4 month immunisations on Thursday - and boy do I now have a very grumpy baby. He's very unsettled at night, it takes ages to get him down and then he'll wake much more than usual. He's very grizzly during the day and doesn't really want to play at all. Equally he doesn't want to nap, so he's generally just miserable and crying most of the time. We've been giving him a bit of calpol, but its 4 days ago now - I thought things would be improving? Would be interested to hear if anyone ...

panic attacks over upcoming injections, what if......

Hi there - oh I remember all too well feeling petrified about the injections. I would never have believed I could do them myself, but it really isnt as bad as you think - honestly. I actually took my first one to clinic and asked if a nurse would just watch me do it. They were more than happy to and then I felt a lot better about it. Good luck, it is fine though and you will be an expert before you know it. x

Too much milk?

DS is now 11 weeks and is taking at least 36 oz of formula per 24 hours. He is 12.7 lbs so should be on about a max of 31 (according to the 2 1/2 times body weight rule). This is me having to stop him and coping with uncontrollable crying when I do so. He seems so hungry all the time. I don't think I am misreading his signals because nothing else will pacify him and when he gets the bottle he glugs down the lot without sicking any back up. Do I keep giving him what he wants? or do I need to cont...

Sad at having to give up breastfeeding at 10 weeks

Jake is 10 weeks now and I am so sad to say I'm going to have to give in with breastfeeding. We've struggled along since day 1 to be honest and despite him putting on weight well in the first few weeks, I have always been convinced that he is constantly hungry. He will scream between feeds, put his fists in his mouth etc. Everyone has told me that as long as the weight is ok, then he is getting enough - but its clear to me that he's just not satisfied. Sometimes I have felt like there's no milk ...

Feeling like giving up breast feeding

Jake is 6 weeks now and I'm really struggling with breast feeding. I've always felt like I'm not producing enough milk because my breasts have never really felt full and have never leaked, so I keep worrying that he's not getting enough which is why he is constantly crying. The HV tells me he is getting enough because he is putting on weight well and that the crying is colic. Anyway now I have mastitus after expressing a full feed for the first time the other day and developed flu symptoms reall...

Feeling like a useless mum

I don't feel as though I'm doing very well at being a Mum so far. Baby Jake is now 5 weeks old and is absolutely beautiful, but I am really struggling with his crying. Most of his awake time is spent crying, particularly in the evenings and through the night. I say crying, it gets to screaming and is uncontrollable and can last for several hours at a time. We try absolutely everything to comfort him and know that he isn't hungry (am breastfeeding), or wet or all the usual things. Even cuddles no...

Hi there - can I be added to your hall of due dates please - due date tomorrow (20th)! Must admit I'm panicking like heck now - baby is still sitting very high and very active so no signs that he/she will make an appearance any time soon! Just so nervous about everything, I thought I'd pop in and join you ladies for some support. I'm not worried about the labour or the pain - just want everything to be ok with the little one and me. Had a bad experience losing a little one a lot earlier several ...

Baby still high at 40 weeks

Hi all. Well am 40 weeks on Monday and really starting to panic about the whole thing. Not so worried about labour, just want everything to be ok! Having had bad experiences in the past (although much earlier on), I just feel so nervous about it all. I'm a bit concerned cos baby is still laying so high up and still kicking me loads right high, there's absolutely no sign of him moving down yet. At the last midwife visit, they also said baby is back to mine and I've been trying to crawl around and...

Hello everyone - thought I'd pop in and say hello! Am just over 32 weeks and starting to get a bit scared now! I've not been on the boards much as having lost a little one a couple of years ago, have been a bit aprehensive about getting too excited! My big belly, swollen hands, feet and constant heartburn are all making it lovely and real now, so I thought I'd come and join you all and start to get a bit excited!!!
