Could he be teething?

Hi all,

Zachary is almost 10weeks now, the past few days he has started going off his milk a bit, he keeps closing his mouth on the teat just sort of rolling it on his gums.
He is also dribbling so much, and seems to just cry out randomly sometimes like he's in pain.
Is he to young to start teething? I've bought some bonjela which it says you can use from 2months, but I haven't used it yet as I'm not 100% sure that it's the problem!!!! xx

Hi Cheenab :)

It could very well be teething. Some babies do start teething very early. F's first two teeth came through at 16 weeks, and I remember him dribbling and grizzling for a good few weeks before then. There's probably no harm in trying a wee bit of Bonjela or a teething toy (preferably nice and cold from the fridge!) and see if that helps at all. If he's really unsettled, especially if he's off his milk, you may be best mentioning it to your HV or doc, just to rule out an infection or something.

Love the profile pic, he's a wee cutie! Good luck xx

I agree with Moogle.

My son dribbled constantly from about 3 months of age yet his first tooth didn't appear until he was just over 8 months old and surprisingly he has less dribble when a tooth starts to cut and appear. His definite signs for teething are a runny nose, unsettled at night and having more poos than normal. He always wants to chew on things so I never know if it is just because of teething.

Have you checked his temperature? Hopefully the bonjela will help anyway but if wouldn't hurt to take him to the HV or GP if it doesn't work.

Just spoke with the HV and she said it definetly sounds like teething and to put a bit of bonjela on his gums before his bottle or buy these granules, I forgot what she said there called!!!
Checked his temperature and that's fine, so sounds like it is the start of teething!!!

Thanks for replying ladies xx

My LO started teething early. Dribbled loads from about 4 weeks and cut her first tooth around three months. By 20 weeks had four teeth.
