constipation

Hi girl's

Really need some advice and hopefully some tips, my D's seems to suffer from terrible constipation and has done on and off since birth, I have always blamed it on the gaviscon as he has been on it from about 6 weeks old but recently has been particularly bad, we have had 2 incidents within a week of him going completly rigid and screaming the place down and the poos have been pretty big and solid ( tmi sorry) his pools are generally hard and he always has to push to the extent his face is purple.
I have tried all different fruits and veg, prunes etc but nothing seems to work, I have been to the chemist and they told me to use lactolose which I was using when needed but I've used it the last few days and it hasn't helped.
Again I put it down to not drinking enough but I cant exactly force him to drink if he doesn't want it.

Now a few weeks ago we were on holiday and my ds wasn't constipated once, I can't think of anything we done differently expect my ds was getting some ice lollies and flavored crushed ice, he had been a wee bit sick and the chemist told us to stop formula for a few days so now I don't no if its the formula, or lack of water or something else, can formula constipate , is it the gaviscon ( he only gets 2 sashets of this a day)

Any advice would be appreciated

My LOnwas ill recently and to get water into her I made ice lollies from water and a spot of juice. She thought it was great having ice lollies all the time! She was also constipated and it helped I think.

Also started making fruit salads which she loves.

Not sure if it will help cos my dd is older but I think anything is worth a go!
