pram broke

Don't know if anyone can help but on Wednesday my baby style classic chassis broke with my lo in it.its just a nut that has come off but it caused the pram top to fall to the right as it had no support the bar that holds the pram fell off at one end. The shop I bought it from has agreed to fix it but I don't feel comfortable with the pram now what can I do before they fix it can I demand an exchange it not as it had only been used for 4 months.

Hi lucyloo

Does the pram come with a manufacturers guarantee, I don't mean from the shop but the actual company that makes it?

OMG that's a bit scary!!

Contact trading standards, they will know your exact rights, tell you your options and give you guidance on how to go about it all.

Good luck!

I'm not sure but I think you have to give the manufacturer the opportunity to repair the item in question before you can ask for a replacement. I'm sure a quick search online will give you the proper info. Sorry this has happened, that must have been a horrid experience for you and your LO. Hope you get something sorted out.

Hi. As I understand it - once an item is more than a week post purchase - even if it was not used in the intervening time - it does not qualify for immediate exchange. For the period of the warrantee, the manufacturer should repair it. Only if it cannot be repaired and the damage is due to a manufacturer error or defect will the manufacturer (not the store) be liable for replacing the unit with the same or equivalent item. If the problem is the result of user error/wear and tear/incorrect or inappropriate use (e.g. loading more into the basket - if there is one - than is recommended) then the company is not required to repair or replace the item...
If a demo/floor model is bought you may still qualify for the warrantee but that is not a given and will need to be checked as many floor models are sold "as is" with warrantee voided or only with "balance of warrantee" as it may have been on the floor for an extended period and therefore "in use" for longer than you have owned it...
