D Day tomorrow

well, this is my last day on maternity leave. Am so sad to be leaving this amazing time, knowing that I will never experience this again. Feels so weird to be going back to work as it felt like I 'left' a year ago. Last time I was in work I was pregnant, looking forward to having my babies, and the time off with them.

I am so grateful to have them and wouldn't have swapped the last year at all, but I wish I had known earlier how I would feel today so I could have better prepared myself. I remember how on the 2ww I would put everything into hoping I was pregnant, and now I am using the same hope to hope that tomorrow doesn't come about!

T is still not himself at all, would have been too much to ask that they loved nursery from day one I guess! I hate the fact that they will be in nursery from 8am to 6pm and we will literally get them through the door, into the bath and then bed. Praying for a lottery win on Wed..

Off to enjoy this last day of freedom...and to try and last an hour without crying

RE: D Day tomorrow

Aw Rosie, just want to send you a huge :hugs:

You must be feeling so may emotions right now, and wish I had some words of wisdom.....imagine how you are feeling is very normal...and am sure I will be feeling just like you, at the end of August.

Am thinking of you, and hope tomorrow goes as ok/smoothly for you all, as it can.

RE: D Day tomorrow

Wanted to send you a hug also as I know how difficult it must be :hugs:

I hope you settle back at work quickly.your 2 lO's are lucky to have spent lots of time with you and I'm sure they'll have lots of big smiles for you when you pick them up.

Good luck for tomorrow and I hope you win the lottery on Wed :P

I just know that I'll be feeling the same in Aug and will come and ask advice on how to get through it without crying all the time.

take care

Rosie -- the first day is the worst .. believe me ... then you start to enjoy work again a little and enjoy being something other than a mum (although it's still my most important job and the one I love the most :D ) it's the only time I only have to worry about myself

thanks all

Glitzy, you are so right. Last night was awful, but this morning was such a rush that I didn't have a chance to think about it and by the time I did I was in work. I had meetings booked in all day so the day has flown by, and happily when I collected them Tomas has been like a different boy apparently and was all smiles. Hollie has been an angel and they have had a good day. Both home, bathed, fed and asleep by 6.30pm as they are shattered! Dh and I don't know what to do with ourselves!

So, not easy, but the build up has been so much worse than the reality. Don't know how I would have felt if they had had a bad day tho!

Thanks again for all the well wishes, only two more days and then home with daddy on fri.

Hi there,

Only just read your post.

I too returned back to work last week. I definately agree the build up is the worst. On the morning I returned, I cried in the shower, then cried in the car on the way to the station. Once I was in work I was fine. Really wasn't as bad as I expected.

Glad it went well for you all.
