poorly boy

my little man has had a cyst under his right eye for a couple of months and untill last week it was just flesh coloured...but it has now turned purpleish in colour. i have taken him to the drs a few times about it and he has been refered to a specialist to have it sorted but the nearest appointment is the end of march! last night i noticed he has gunky stuff in that eye, he woke up at 3am and was sick had a raging temp and was shaking, do you think it could be infected??? spud is only usually sick when he has a very high temp because of some sort of infection. would i seem neurotic ott mother if i took him back again do you think???

here it is...under his left eye

I'm running down the road like loose electricity, while the band in my head plays a strip tease!

What was/is his temp hun??
If he had a temp to the point of sickness then i would get him seen asap. His eye does look really swollen but difficult to tell if it's inflamed. Either way he needs seeing sooner chick

thanks for that ladies, i bit the bullet soon after posting this thread and took him staight up to the drs, he threw up on the floor and they rushed him in....the dr said that his eye looks very swollen and painful and he will try to get us an appointment sooner than march which is good, he wants to try him on anti-b's but wants him to stop being sick first so i have to take him back to see the dr again tonight at 6pm.

hi rose, his temp was 100.4 just now at my moms house, but when the dr checked it he wasnt too concerned, glad i took him, i hope they can sort something out for him tonight, he has bee off the hooks for weeks now im sure its because of the lump.

What handsome boys Spud and Harry are, Willow and Compley!
But poor wee man Spud. That looks really sore and thank God your doc is going to push for a sooner appt. If it bursts I would still get him down to the A&E - it means you can possibly get to see someone and may just get you to the front of the queue.

Hiya,
sorry cant really help, but M had a "virus:" and he did come out in a similar rash. It started on his back and chest, and then up neck and into hair bu no where else.
I wouldnt like to same its the same because rash's can be tricky things.

You could phone Dr's back, see what they say. x

it doens't look like measles Willow, its too fine. The MMR isn't 100% effective but I'm pretty sure thats not what he's got.
Why has your GP given him antibiotics for a virus, they kill bacteria?

OH poor lamb, he really is having a rough time of it-
Has he eaten or drunk aything different today thnn he would normally eat or drink.

IMO if it was me I would phone NHS Direct and go through everthing that has gone on the rash, the Eye, the tounge.
They may say go to OOH Gp service - he cant keep having things wrong his immune system seems to have a taken a knock from eye lump & infection.

x x x Really hoping this all stops soon poor baby (sorry big boy)

Edited to say I would also want a blood test just to see there is no infection other then the eye. x x

Please let us know how he is. I had wondered about measles when you said he had a runny nose a couple of days ago, but I'm glad Mrs J can put your mind at ease that it isn't. The MMR is not 100% effective after one jab, but if he's had the booster (must have had since he's at school now), then it should be, shouldn't it? My DS got rubella after one MMR jab.

Anyway, please tell us an update. It's obviously still going on if you're seeing new places with the rash. ?( Get-better vibes coming his way.

Glad you have a diagnosis Willow, doesn't it make things feel better when you know what you are dealing with. I've heard of scarletina but I don't know much about it. Hope he is better soon.

here we go again!
spud woke up being sick again....has rash again...is very pale and hot and the abcsess is still there but looks ready to blow again, we have been trying to draw it with hot flannels on it all morning and it is oozing slightly (niiiiiice)

im wondering if it is an abcsess related thing again now mmmmmm

got appointment to have it sorted in hospital on the 9th of april wish it was sooner

I'm running down the road like loose electricity, while the band in my head plays a strip tease!
