Still seem to have milk

I stopped bfing 3 months, after 7 months of bfing. When I was in the bath Saturday, I noticed there seemed to be a tiny bit of milk leaking, and I realised I could still get a bit of milk to come out.

Is this normal? How long can it take to dry up completely? As my breasts seemed to have gone completely back to 'non bfing' breasts in feel/appearance etc, I thought all the milk had dried up, and wasn't expecting this!

Honestly, I could get milk out for a couple of years. Not a lot, just a few drops but it was still there....

It seems to vary from person to person.

I have heard it said that once your body has lactated your breasts never totally stop. It may dry up to a drop now and then but it never stops altogether. How accurate that is I do not know. If you were gushing milk then it would need to be investigated but a few drops now and then is quite normal...

wow

I completely dried up (as far as I know) about 6 weeks after I stopped BF (both times stopped around 7 months). Saying that I also never tried to get any milk out after I stopped :P

My boobs were sore and I thought I might be pregnant (see numerous other threads for other crazy ways to make yourself think you might be!) So I had a squeeze, saw a tiny drop of milk and got all worked up. I wasn't pregnant

Hey...I noticed a fairly big leakage one morning, months after I had quit b/feeding my eldest (10 months b/feeding, and this was about 6 months later) so I went to GP who checked me out and did a blood test - she said my prolactin levels were slightly elevated but that may just been to do with the day of my cycle she tested at, so she repeated the test and it came back ok.
B/fed my youngest for 14 months and checked 3 months afterwards to see if gone (didn't want to keep trying as that can keep the milk production up!) but had not gone away...10 months or more later I had what felt like the 'let down' response when holding my newbie nephew and sure enough, i checked later and could still get milk, very easily. GP just said it can take a while to go - I made him check my prolactin levels as I was worried that was having something to do with my recurrent m/c's (I believe I posted a thread about it on here earlier in the year!) but they came back on the high side of normal so who knows! Seems sometimes it just takes it's time to go then
