I seem to have been busy recently, so haven't logged on for a while.

Have a really nice photo of Tom, but I don't think I can cope with the technology. It's in an email. Anyone out there know how to help me ?

Ellie,

You need to save the picture to your computer and remember where it is.

Then go to www.tinypic.com and click on the 'Browse' button. It will bring up all your computer files; find the picture and click on it.

Then click on the 'Host it' button

at the bottom there will be 4 boxes with http:// adresses in, select and copy the top address.

Come onto here, reply to this topic and click on the button. It will bring up a grey box, delete the http:// that's already in the text box and paste in your http:// address.

preview your post before you post it to make sure that your picture has worked.

:)

Clare

Speak to your HV, mine was a god send and gave some great advice.

Is Summer copying your mouth movements when you eat, thats usuall y a good sign, that and not taking their eyes off you when you eat (abviously as well as the hunger thing).

Make up tiny amounts a few mouthfuls is all they will take at first.

And a fab must buy is the Annabel Karmel Baby & Toddler Meal planner, it gives loads of great advice and recipie ideas, also advices what foods can be introduced at what ages. My friend has just weaned her little girl and totally swears by it.

Hope that helps a bit x

Gonna try and hold off for as long as i can though, i know the dep of health say 6 months now but theres no way she will go that long, thankfully its not affecting her sleep at a night yet, when it does i know its time to start!!!

clare,
when you do start putting babies onto solids, it`s easier to put the food (if you make it yourself) into ice cube trays and freeze them. use them when you need to, it`s ideal for small eaters!

When I had my first baby, weaning was done at 16 weeks. When I had my second it had been changed to 6 months .

While I understood the concept behind it I very much thought that the guideline had been dreamt up by a bloke sitting in an office and not by a Mum sat at home with chewed nipples or a pile of empty bottles and a baby who was trying to chew off its own arm.

I weaned my second at the same stage as my first... around the 16 week mark. At this point I justified it to myself and my health visitor by writing down on a chart (sad I know!) exactly how many feeds my daughter was having. When I looked at the chart after a week I could see that I was feeding almost constantly (hourly at one point), night and day, and I realised that I had been for several weeks.

I started her at 'around' 4 months on a tiny amount (only a teaspoon or two) of organic baby rice mixed with my milk. That was all I gave her each day for about a week. After that I mixed in a little pureed potato and then a little pureed carrot (mixed with the baby rice to dilute the flavours). I Increased amounts week by week and introduced new foods slowly. By the time she was 6 months she was eating three meals a day (with puddings) and sleeping from 6.30pm until 7.30am [zx014] hip hip...hooray!!! :D

The thing I found with weaning was that, like a lot of parenty things, it's very competitive :( At baby clinic I would hear Mums saying "oh I weaned him at 16 weeks as he was so hungry and by 17 weeks he was eating 4 large jars a day". It's not a race and it does no favours to give so much food so early. Weaning is about getting your baby used to the texture of food in its mouth and getting baby's digestive system used to processing solid matter. It takes time for digestion to catch up and by feeding too much too early it can cause constipation and upset tummies.

I used the ice cube tray trick too. I bought loads of organic fruit and veg, steamed it, whizzed it with the stick blender and froze in ice trays. Then when frozen they were emptied into labelled bags. Meal times were a cube of mashed spud mixed with a cube of carrot in the first few weeks followed by some pureed pear with baby rice and milk. After a couple of months I moved to Asda plastic lidded tubs as the ice trays were too small.

One day my hubby accidently put a pudding cube in with a main course cube  The result was swede, pear and potato....... she LOVED it! :D

bells, roflmao at the swede, pear and spud!
i started dd on the baby rice when she was around 3 months old and before i heard of the ice cube trick, i used the boxes of dry food that you add water to, it was easy as you just put the amount in that you thought baby would eat.
it`s true what you say though about too much too soon can cause problems, a friend of mine gave her baby food at 2 months old, he`d eat tons of the stuff and she woundered why he was constipated, crying all the time and also overly obese before he was one years old.

Hi Clare,

not sure if you'd remember me, but I was one of the first ones to get pregnant back in 04 (gosh, that's so long ago!!!) just before Beth (Litbe) - I think I'd actually been wiped from the system so I've registered again! Not been on here for ages (obviously) but just wanted to see how everyone is doing - it's so nice to see your gorgeous twins!! Congrats again. I'm almost jealous... but then I've got our lovely Tamsin, who is now 7 and a half months old. I can hardly believe it, time has flown! That Clomid was so good :)

Anyhow just thought I'd say hello again to you, and Beth (gorgeous pic of her twins too), and all the other 'originals' - glad it's all going good. Happy New Year!
