Abcess

ouch ouch ouch!!!
i felt really ill sat morning and my one boob swole up and was really painful, kept passing out and being sick so went to hospital, they said i have got a abscess in my boob! hurts soooo much, kept me in on a drip and oxygen and pumped a load of antibiotics into me, they hoped that would do the trick but i went back sunday as they wanted to see how it was going but now its gone all red and sore, been for a scan today and there are 2 abcesses full of poison. got to go back to be rescanned on friday to see if they can drain it out-if not will have to operate :o(

anyone else ever had anything like this?

I haven't but I know someone who has and she had to have hers drained :(

You poor love. Did you have any symptoms before Saturday morning? No sore patches, redness or discomfort?

No advice from me, but I just made that noise you make when you suck air through your teeth in sympathy. I don't know how to spell it! Hope you get it sorted honey. Have you got painkillers?

no bells nothing till sat morn when the pain started, have strong painkillers but they make me feel really woozy.
have been advised to breastfeed as much as poss from the bad side to avoid the milk pushing against the abcesses.
so blummin sore, hurts to pick the girls up-you dont realise how much you use ur chest for lifting till it hurts!!
hopefully friday will get it all sorted ?(

elmo - you poor thing

if you find it sore, try using breast shields. they can overstimulate if used for too long but they also help relieve pressure by expelling some milk.

on a slightly different note, have they told you it's still ok to feed the girls whilst you're on the strong painkillers?
