Scratch has left indent on skin!

Well it sounds a bit silly but Brennan managed to scratch himself on the cheek a couple of weeks ago and then when it had scabbed over then knocked the scab off again,am really paranoid about cutting his nails now! You can still see where it was and he also has an indent on the skin which im worried will scar his beautiful face... :bawl: Anyone else had this problem? I know he will get lots of knocks and scratches as he gets older but it upsets me when i look at it...poor boy

Im having terrible trouble with this to , Mckenzi has Eczema and he is always scratching it plus when he gets tired he scratches his head or rubs it which results in lots of sctraches on his forehead , i am forever cutting his nails but somehow he still seems to scratch himself , only thing i can really suggest to stop him scratching is mittens but it will come a time when he wont want them on after that its pretty much just keeping there nails down and hoping for the best

Yeah it is a pain and unfortunatly there isnt really a cure , its the oppasite in our house my DH wont do it as his to worried about hurting him i just get stuck in i find it easier to do when ive just fed him as his pretty content and happy sitting in my arms i just grab his hand while im holding him and do it like that , infact i did them today and he just watched (he doesnt always do that LOL) either that or try when his asleep , kenz is to big now to do that but while brennan is small make the most of it and i think the more they do it and watch the less it worrys them as id day 6/10 times i do Mckenzi's he doesnt really batter an eyelid its all practice and patience  ill ask you to remind me about this convo when his one and wont stay still :snigger:

Hi Seb had bad excema when he was little and I used the sleep suits from next with the fold over mittens and that helped alot!!! I always used to sing this little piggy when I cut ther nails and I still do and really tickle them on the wee wee wee all the way home bit to make it into a game and they let me do it, I also pick my moments like before bed and when they are watching their fave tv prog xxxx

Well its been 10 weeks since Brennan scratched his face and knocked scab of whilst it was healing and you can still see the red mark and the indent in his skin, its on his cheek  How long will it take to fade? I have a feeling it will never go and i feel guilty....its not that big but i cant stop lookin at it and feeling bad!,have been putting bio oil on it twice a day,i really hope it will go...

It will fade over time, I promise.

My eldest had surgery when she was a few months old and the scar from that took a few months to fade and a few months more to get to where it is now, barely visible.

My youngest is more accident prone than a blindfolded chimp and all her hundreds of scratches, bruises and cuts have faded away..... now we just have to wait for that tooth she smashed to fall out  :snigger:

Don't feel guilty, ALL children have cuts, scratches and scrapes at some point and they always fade away. Even children who have stitched cuts are rarely left with anything other than a teeny blemish.
