Baby bath seat or not?

Hi

I am wondering if i should buy a baby bath seat for my LO who is nearly 6 months. He has one of the plastic lie down ones at the moment in the big bath and has been using that since he was about a month old...i'm wondering if it is worth buying the swivel bath seat or just letting him go 'free' in the bath instead.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! :)

My swivel bath seat was an absolute godsend!! It made me confident that he was ok sitting up in the bath and we could play with his toys together as I had free hands.

I know people do without them but my boy was a bit of a wriggler so I needed twenty hands in the bath!

Hi Cupcake :D

I think you may be right - that's what i love about the lie down one he has now although he is trying to push himself up off it now! You can wash them easily, play with them etc...did you get the safety first swivel seat one? is it easy to wash them in it?

Oh and congratulations on your second icsi success - you must be very excited happydance

Hi BGE

We bought one this week. The first use was a great success for play and some washing but there are some bits that are hard to reach! ONe the second use he screamed straight away but I think maybe he wasn't sat comfortably. I'll let you know how the next few days go!!!

I bought two swivel seats from an NCT sale for £3 each and they completely changed my life. Bathtimes before swivel seats were not much fun but now we are relaxed and my girls play and enjoy the time, and I am hands free to wash them and to play too! They are probably one of my best baby purchases ever (and even better if you can get them cheap!). Enjoy x

beautiful twin girls born 8th Feb 2010, we are so grateful

We have had our first use of our bath seat just this morning!! We ended up buying the Jane Fluid Bath Seat/Ring. We chose this one after much deliberation (because its twice the price of the normal ones) but the front folds down for ease of getting them in/out & our LO has chubby legs. I must admit this part was very easy & Dan loved his bath & it made it very easy. We have been doing what Flic did before that & bathing Daniel in with us or still cramming him into his baby bath which we sat within our bath.

We thought the bath seat would take up less room in the bathroom, which obviously it will....the only down side was that it was so difficult to get it off the bottom of the bath when we had finished...the suckers are soooo strong. There is a tab to pull to release the suckers but when wet it is still hard to pull. Possibly need to wait for it to dry out a bit first...I suppose the plus side to this is that you know it won't wobble over with LO in it.

We bought the safety 1st swivel bath seat from Asda for £10,it's great LO is fine in it,the only thing i would say with it is that when i use Oilatum for LO the suckers don't stick so well to the bath but apart from that i like it and it's good value for money.

I bought one for our DD and we never got on with it. She's a dinky little girl so the top of the seat came up to her armpits making it hard to get her out of it. She spent all her time in it either crying or trying to chew it making hair and body washing very difficult. I ended up sitting her on her fabric bath support so she didn't slip, it worked really well for us.

We've just bought an aquapod from Mothercare, after a recommendation from a few of my NCT friends. My two certainly seemed to like it but will need to sit in the box a bit longer until the are more stable sitting up. The suckers fix very well and the bath mat part is good and also attaches well.

It was a summer one we got as my SIL thought they were good with her twin boys.
It was ok but nothing to harness A in with which was a bit discouraging.
She prefers actually being in the bath without the seat now anyway,x

BGE....we are also in that club of buying stuff we think we need, using it once or twice & then resigning it to the club of useless & selling on ebay! I need a mentor to tell me what to buy & what not to buy!!

Swivel seats all the way! I think I got my children in them around 5+ months. DS and his chubba thighs was a little awkward to get in and out but if you hold them across their chest with one arm you can guide their legs in/out with the other.

the only down side was that it was so difficult to get it off the bottom of the bath when we had finished...the suckers are soooo strong.

I agree!!! No sooner do you free one sucker and another one's stuck down again! :mood: The seats are definitely one of the best things I've bought though!
