No blood test?

Just finished the 2WW after our 2nd ICSI and was ecstatic to see a BFP this Wednesday! When I let the clinic know they told me to come on for a scan almost 3 weeks from now. I am quite surprised they are not doing a blood test as it seems pretty standard from reading all the threads. Is it common not to have any sort of blood test and just wait for a scan? I am worried they should be doing more...

HI, congrats!!
I am no expert, but they do tend to measure that your HCG levels are doubling etc. Mayby give them another call?

Hi DeeBee and congratulations!
A lot of the nhs clinics don't do the hcg blood test. They wait for the 6/7 weeks scan. You can ask them or P for the blood tests if you want them.

Hi Deebee!
Congrats on your bfp!
My clinic did a blood test the first time when things weren't looking good after the scan. Second time round the scan was perfect, they say if everything looks good with the scan at 6/7weeks then the bloods don't tell you anything more. So don't panic! Not everyone has bloods done. Take care!

Many congrats on your BFP!

My clinic didn't do bloods after my BFP - just had to wait another 2 1/2 weeks for a scan - it was a veeeeeery long wait!

Thank you all for replying - you've put my mind at ease, was starting to worry that I am missing a step here! Maria, yes it is an nhs clinic so I will call them on Monday and see what they think about doing a test
