If it's Lemsip with added phenylephrine hydrochloride then you may be better avoiding it as this is a decongestant that may affect your milk supply.

You're absolutely fine to take the normal recommended dose of paracetamol. Two plain, bog standard paracetamols (2x500mg) contain more active ingredient than a sachet of Lemsip anyway. Have a hot Ribena or mix half a juice of a lemon with some honey and hot water for the same steamy decongestant effect.

For more information you can look at the PDF called 'Cough and Cold Remedies in breastfeeding' breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk

My friend's milk dried up after she took decongestant lemsip in error, so probably best avoided! I sympathise, I have just gone through 2 horrible colds and coughs on paracetamol alone. Nightmare!

Was just going to post about decongestants...then found this :)

Took dd1 for hearing check this avo, she still has glue ear and need to go back again in 3 months. Anyway, as I was there thought I'd ask them to check mine as they still feel really blocked after an infection 5 weeks ago. She confirmed this and suggested taking a decongestant to relieve the pressure.

Anyway, I'm waffling...still bf so guess I'll have to just ride it out and hope it goes soon.

Thanks for reading my pointless waffly post : D
