I started then stopped, well I gave her rice at around 4 months then had a long chat with my bf consellor and she advised me to wait so I did till she was 6 months but she was not really interested in food not till she was about 7- 8 months it was very hard, do it when you feel it's the right time is my advise.

I have heard that early weaning is linked with childhood obesity, anybody else heard this?
Second thing I have heard is not to start before first tooth.
Third thing I have heard was from 4 months so I have no idea...

hiya all
i started Finlay on baby rice at about 4 months,he wasnt that fussed until i mixed some apple with it.he wasnt that bothered even then.he had a couple of spoonfuls a day .it took two weeks or so,but now he has two meals a day,and loves it.ive not put him on three meals yet,cos he is getting less and less interested in his milk.at the moment he has a 7oz bottle when he gets up,breakfast made uo using a 5oz bottle about 1 and 1/2 hours later,7oz bottle at lunchtime, dinner ,pud, and juice at tea time and 7oz bottle at bedtime.
it suits him like this, but as has already been said each baby is different

The HV really push (well mine does) for 6 months the advantages of weaning later is reduced risk of allergies, asthma, eczema, digestive problems, it has been proven that a babys kidneys and digestive systems are still developing up to the age of 6 months.

I have a few friends who have family histories of the above so have waited till 6 months based on this advise.
