Increasing breast milk production

This recipe is handed out by Weleda and comes highly recommended by a friend and colleague as a way to help you increase your breast milk. I have not tried it as yet so cannot vouch for it...

**** WELEDA SCHLEHEN VITALITY TONIC JUNGLE JUICE RECIPE****

Use this recipe daily, over a 24 hour period to help stimulate your milk produciton and increase your energy levels

50ml Schlehen Blackthorn Berry Elixir
1 litre apple juice
2 litres water
1 sachet Blackcurrant Rehidrat

Mix all together. Add 10 drops of rescue remedy to every glass just before you drink it...

PCOS, hypothyroid - on thyroxine, aspirin and Met
Lap/Ovarian Drilling Oct 2005
DIUI X5 + 2 abandoned cycles (total 7 cycles)
:BFP: 22 March 2006 - Connor Born 24 November 2006 - unplanned c-section
At 3 and a half C finally gave up the boob!

I don't quite understand it, though, Rene. Do you drink all of that in one day? In which case, what is the "10 drops of rescue remedy"? Or is this the "rescue remedy" to add to what you drink?

Bach flower rescue remedy. It's very nice stuff, tastes like plum wine :D

It's a useful potion to use by itself when the let down reflex is slow or when milk drops back due to stress or illness. I recommend a few drops on the tongue 15-20 mins before feeding but 10 drops obviously would be more potent.

Yes Limpet, you are! ;)

http://www.bachflower.com/

Buy it from Boots and some little chemists :) Also suitable for highly strung children, I used to give it to DD2 when she was going through her "I'm scared of everything!" phase. We called it her panic medicine because she used to scream "I'M PANICKING!!!!" just before she launched herself downstairs head first.

Limpet, Hun
You are supposed to drink the whole lot every day and each time you have a glassful you add Rescue Remedy to it. You can get Rescue Remedy in homeopathic stores or the homeopathic section of you local pharmacy.
I can forsee that if you do make this mix and take it every day you will have little or no need for other liquids as you will already have taken 3 litres by the time it is done.
My only problem with blackthorn berry elixir is that it is super-sweet to my taste and my problem with the recipe is that I HATE black-currant flavoured drinks

Hi
I was just wondering if you had any websites that ship internationally that supply all these products...I'm having a heck of a time finding them and I would really like to. Thank you! :)

Hi Geri and welcome. I'll try to have a look around and see if I can find somewhere that you can buy the ingredients off the net, no promises though...

I must admit that so far I am just getting really frustrated as the elixir is available at Weleda UK, but they only ship within the UK. THe US site doesn't even list it as a product??? I don't get it...
Have not given up though

Is This Right?

It's 50 ml/day for the Blackthorn berry Elixir? That's only 10 days per large size bottle...wow!

Hiya, Geri - yes, that is 50ml per day. So you end up going through a lot of the stuff.
I ended up using it for a short period only and my milk production was fine. I take it that, afer 2 years of trying, you finally managed to get hold of some?

Sa-Leanne
You can get the rehidrat at pharmacies - they keep it with the gastro remedies normally and the elixir is with the homeopathic stuff (I think) so if your pharmacy has a homeopathic section you will get it there. Otherwise try the homeopathic shops...

LOL yes. I got some way back then, but I had to order it from Africa (I am from Canada!). I have another baby now though that I am b/f so this is still useful to me. Does the Bach's have alcohol in it? Is it ok?

I think it does but it is such a tiny amount - the whole bottle is less than equal to a tot...

And congrats on number 2!!!

Increasing milk supply with Weleda Blackthorn Elixir and Holle Nursing Tea

Hi all

I breastfed all three of my children with varying degrees of success, and though there were difficulties I was so pleased I did breastfeed. The feeling it gave me was amazing. I had problems with milk supply with my youngest and found the Weleda Blackthorn Elixir a real help. I was living in Germany at the time and buying the elixir was not a problem for me there.

I now live in the UK and, please accept my apologies for the little commercial plug, run an online shop selling high quality organic baby foods. Because I love the whole Weleda range so much I do also stock the Weleda Blackthorn Elixir www.ulula.co.uk/blackthorn and the relatively new Holle Nursing Tea www.ulula.co.uk/tea , a specially formulated herbal infusion for increasing milk supply in mums to be and breastfeeding mums. If any mum would like some free samples of the Holle tea just fill in the form on the site and I'll gladly send them along. Many mums tell me they have great success with the Holle Nursing Tea and it a a real joy for me to be able to help support those women with their breastfeeding.

Again, apologies for the slightly commercial nature of the post but hoped it may be of use to future mums who have problems with milk supply.
